It is mostly used as a tempering to add flavour and prevent gastric conditions. Hing, a yellowish colored powder, is obtained by grinding the potent hing crystal. It is an important ingredient of many mixed powders and brings warmth to dishes. It is also used in soups and a variety of cuisines.
